Heavy Rainfall Triggers Fatalities in Mansehra, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Mansehra: Two fatalities were reported in Mansehra, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, following severe weather conditions that led to structural collapses on August 19, 2024. The incidents highlight the ongoing risk posed by extreme weather events in the region, underscoring the need for enhanced disaster preparedness and infrastructure resilience.

According to Provincial Disaster Management Authority, the victims were identified as Saim, son of Muhammad Dildar, who perished due to a roof collapse in Mari Khankhail, and Maroof Ul Nisa, wife of Syed Asghar, who died as a result of a boundary wall collapse in Hadobandi. These tragedies occurred amid heavy rainfall that has affected the area, causing significant damage and prompting emergency responses.

The PDMA is currently coordinating with local authorities to assess further damages and implement necessary relief measures. The incidents have prompted a reevaluation of building safety standards and disaster response strategies in the affected areas to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
