Pakistan High Commission in London Marks 78th Independence Day with Solemn Ceremony

London: The Pakistan High Commission in London celebrated the 78th Independence Day with a ceremony filled with national pride and remembrance. High Commissioner Dr. Mohammad Faisal led the event by hoisting the Pakistan flag and delivering a heartfelt tribute to the nation’s founders and heroes. The ceremony included the conferment of civil awards and recognition of significant contributions from members of the Pakistani community in the UK.

According to High Commission for Pakistan – United Kingdom, the event began with the recitation of the Holy Quran followed by the playing of Pakistan’s National Anthem. High Commissioner Dr. Mohammad Faisal, in his address, paid homage to the leaders who established Pakistan, notably Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, and reflected on the vision of Allama Iqbal for a strong and prosperous Pakistan. He also honored the sacrifices of Pakistan’s martyrs and reiterated support for the Kashmiri and Palestinian causes.

During the ceremony, civil awards were presented to notable individuals for their contributions in various fields including business, philanthropy, neurosurgery, and politics. Special recognition was given to a young Pakistani, Abdullah, who was honored for his bravery in thwarting an attack at Leicester Square, potentially saving lives.

The event, attended by UK parliamentarians, diplomats, community members, and media, underscored the contributions of British Pakistanis in fostering relations between Pakistan and the UK. The celebration concluded with a cake-cuting ceremony, symbolizing unity and continued dedication to the ideals of Pakistan’s founders.
