Gadani: The Collectorate of Customs (Enforcement), Gadani, has ramped up its efforts against smuggling through a series of intelligence-based operations across the Makran Division, Lasbela, and Hub in Balochistan. Customs Enforcement teams, in collaboration with other law-enforcement agencies, intercepted a significant amount of smuggled goods valued at over Rs. 154 million, which includes the worth of the seized carriers.
According to Press Information Department, a joint operation with the Intelligence Bureau (IB), Hub, led to the interception of two passenger buses in the Lasbela area carrying smuggled items. A thorough search revealed hidden compartments containing foreign-origin betel nuts, cosmetics, cigarettes, Indian Gutka, and parachute cloth. The total value of these seized items, including the carriers, is estimated at over Rs. 130 million.
In another operation, the Mobile Enforcement Unit in Hub conducted a raid on a warehouse, uncovering large quantities of plastic shopper bags and skimmed milk powder, with a combined value of approximately Rs. 20 million. These goods were transported to the State Warehouse in Gadani following standard procedures.
Additionally, the Field Enforcement Unit in Gwadar intercepted 750 kilograms of smuggled Iranian edible oil on the Coastal Highway. The oil, packed in 150 tins of 5 kilograms each, has an estimated value of around Rs. 4 million.
Pakistan Customs has reaffirmed its commitment to conducting intelligence-based and coordinated anti-smuggling efforts across the region, aiming to curb the illegal trafficking of goods and safeguard legitimate trade and the national economy.
