ISLAMABAD: The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) has been identified as a transformative project for regional development and economic prosperity, according to Speaker of the National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq. During a meeting with Malik Kifayat-ur-Rehman, Deputy Speaker of the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly, at Parliament House, Sadiq underscored the project’s potential to enhance the economic landscape through its strategic initiatives.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Speaker reiterated the National Assembly’s dedication to bolstering legislative cooperation among the country’s legislative bodies. He emphasized that sustaining this cooperation in legislative and parliamentary affairs would bolster the institutional capacity of the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly. Sadiq also stressed the value of training programs organized by the Pakistan Institute for Parliamentary Services (PIPS) to advance the legislative capabilities and parliamentary efficiency of Gilgit-Baltistan’s members and staff.

Highlighting the economic prospects of Gilgit-Baltistan, Sadiq pointed out the region’s rich mineral resources and tourism potential, which he believes can play a significant role in Pakistan’s economic development.
