Chairman PMIC Inspects Peshawar Northern Bypass, Urges Timely Completion

Islamabad, Brig. (Retd.) Muzaffar Ali Ranjha, Chairman of the Project Monitoring and Implementation Cell (PMIC), following the concerns of the Prime Minister of Pakistan, has emphasized the urgent completion of the Peshawar Northern Bypass Project (PNBP). During his visit to Peshawar on November 23, 2023, along with Dr. Mumtaz Ahmed Kamal and Mr. Muhammad Saleh Narejo, the Chairman assessed the progress of the project and addressed issues causing delays.

According to Press Information Department, the Chairman’s visit involved briefings from representatives of the National Highway Authority (NHA) and relevant departments of the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Major hindrances to the project’s completion, such as land possession for Package-2, Package-3A, and Package-3B, as well as security concerns, were discussed. The Commissioner of Peshawar, who was asked to intervene for land provision and security, assured full cooperation. Notably, the Commissioner informed that 126 Kanals of land had been handed over to the NHA on November 24, 2023, just a day after the PMIC team’s visit. The General Manager and Project Director of the NHA have committed to completing Package-3 and Package-2 by December 31, 2023, and June 30, 2024, respectively. The Chairman of PMIC has directed for the timely completion of the project to realize its intended benefits for the public.
