ISLAMABAD, Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar has departed for home after participating in the 28th Conference of Parties (COP28) of the United Nations in Dubai. His visit included attending the World Climate Action Summit and presenting Pakistan’s stance on various climate-related issues.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Prime Minister was seen off at Al Maktoum International Airport in Dubai by UAE Minister of State for Government Development and the Future Ohood Bint Khalfan Al Roumi, the UAE Ambassador to Pakistan, and Pakistani diplomatic staff. During the conference, he presented Pakistan’s national narrative on climate change and participated in the Global Stocktake Round Table Discussion.
In addition to his formal engagements, Prime Minister Kakar held meetings with various international leaders on the sidelines of COP28, including the Presidents of Sri Lanka and the Maldives, the Prime Ministers of the Netherlands, Estonia, and Syria, and Co-Chair of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Bill Gates.
He also visited the COP28 Pakistan Pavilion, attended a function related to the Living Indus Initiative, and met with Pakistani female students who were recipients of the Zayed Sustainability Prize.
The Prime Minister’s next stop is Gwadar, where he is scheduled to inaugurate the China-Pakistan Friendship Hospital and a seawater desalination plant.
