British High Commissioner Engages with Pakistan’s Finance Minister to Strengthen Bilateral Ties


Islamabad, The British High Commissioner to Pakistan, H.E. Ms. Jane Marriott, met with Pakistan’s Minister for Finance and Revenue, Mr. Muhammad Aurangzeb, to discuss and enhance the strategic partnership and cooperation between the United Kingdom and Pakistan. The meeting focused on key areas of mutual interest, reinforcing the commitment to bolster the longstanding bilateral relations.



According to Press Information Department, the discussions between Ms. Marriott and Mr. Aurangzeb were pivotal in acknowledging and furthering the historic ties between the two nations. Minister Aurangzeb briefed the High Commissioner on Pakistan’s economic developments, including the successful completion of the second IMF review under the Standby Arrangement (SBA). He emphasized Pakistan’s dedication to advancing fiscal discipline and structural reforms across various sectors, aiming to fortify the economy and foster sectoral improvements.



The British High Commissioner appreciated Pakistan’s endeavors towards economic reform and reaffirmed the UK’s support for Pakistan’s developmental objectives. Ms. Marriott stressed the importance of deepening bilateral cooperation in areas beneficial to both countries and reiterated the UK’s pledge to enhance the collaborative partnership.



The meeting concluded with both parties expressing their commitment to further strengthen the bilateral relationship, emphasizing a shared vision for enhanced cooperation and mutual benefits for the people of both Pakistan and the United Kingdom.
