AJK President Calls for Unity and Commitment to Islamic Values and Freedom

Islamabad, In a powerful message on the occasion of Pakistan Day, Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry, the President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), emphasized the historical significance of March 23, 1940, for both Pakistan and the Muslims of Jammu and Kashmir. He stated that the date marks a pivotal moment when the Muslims of the sub-continent, including representatives from Kashmir, convened in Lahore to articulate their demand for a separate homeland. This homeland, they envisioned, would allow them to live in accordance with Islamic values, traditions, justice, equality, and freedom.

According to President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, the Lahore meeting underscored a collective resolution to pursue a democratic state where the ideals of Islam could flourish, safeguarding the rights and freedoms of its people. He highlighted the inseparable bond between a stable Pakistan and the freedom struggle of Kashmir, asserting that a strong Pakistan is essential for the realization of Kashmir’s liberty.

The AJK President’s remarks were made in a special message released in observance of Pakistan Day. He reflected on the historical gathering led by Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan, and inspired by the vision of the poet and philosopher Hazrat Allama Muhammad Iqbal. This day, he noted, solidified the Muslims’ determination to achieve a political destiny aligned with their cultural and religious ethos.

President Chaudhry also paid tribute to the sacrifices and endeavors of Pakistan’s founding figures. He urged the people of Pakistan and Kashmir to recommit themselves to the foundational principles that form the bedrock of Pakistan’s ideology. By fostering unity, discipline, and dedication, he called for collective efforts to fortify Pakistan’s strength and prosperity, which in turn, would support the quest for Kashmir’s freedom.

The President’s message serves as a reminder of the historical ties and shared aspirations that link the peoples of Pakistan and Kashmir, underscoring a continued commitment to the principles of democracy, justice, and freedom as envisioned by the leaders of their independence movement.
