Islamabad, In an ongoing effort to repatriate illegal foreign nationals, 616 Afghan nationals were returned to Afghanistan on Tuesday. This move is part of a larger initiative to ensure the safe and dignified return of illegal Afghans to their homeland.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the latest statistics reveal that a total of 469,545 illegal Afghan nationals have been repatriated so far. The repatriation process is being conducted in a manner that respects the dignity and safety of the individuals involved.
The repatriation of these Afghan nationals is part of a broader strategy to address the issue of illegal foreign nationals residing in the country. The government’s effort to ensure a smooth and respectful repatriation process underscores its commitment to handling such situations responsibly and humanely.
Karachi, The Caretaker Chief Minister of Sindh, Justice (retd) Maqbool Baqir, praised the Karachi International Container Terminal (KICT) for its significant contributions to Pakistan’s economy and maritime industry during its 25-year silver jubilee celebration. The ceremony marked the impressive milestone of handling 15 million Twenty-foot Equivalent Units (TEUs).
According to Chief Minister Sindh, Justice Baqir, while addressing the milestone ceremony at West Wharf, acknowledged the vital role of Hutchison Ports KICT, a stakeholder of Karachi Port Trust, in facilitating the country’s exports and imports. The event was attended by notable figures including the Consul General of China Mr. Yang Yundong, Chairman of KPT Syed Saidin Raza Zaidi, and various industry representatives.
Justice Baqir highlighted that KICT, having completed a quarter-century, has reached the critical milestone of handling 15 million TEUs. He commended KICT for its strategic position in global trade and its significant contributions to economic growth and revenue generation in Pakistan. The Chief Minister expressed confidence in KICT’s key role in the maritime industry and appreciated its efforts in revitalizing Karachi as the eastern gateway.
Mr. Andy Tsui, Managing Director, Middle East and Africa at Hutchison Ports, shed light on KICT’s journey, emphasizing its strategic policies and commitment to operational efficiency. He expressed that the achievement of 15 million TEUs is not just a numerical milestone but a reflection of KICT’s dedication to excellence, innovation, and sustainability.
In celebration of this historic milestone, KICT announced a community support initiative in collaboration with SOS Village and The Citizen’s Foundation. The initiative signifies KICT’s ongoing commitment to community involvement and the future development of Pakistan’s maritime sector.
