Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have issued a joint appeal to the nation, focusing on the importance of promoting the true message of Ashura and fostering inter-sectarian respect and harmony. Their statements were directed particularly at religious scholars, the media, and the youth, encouraging them to engage with the values embodied by Ashura.

According to Radio Pakistan, President Zardari emphasized that the incident of Karbala transcends its historical significance, offering an eternal message and a source of guidance for all generations. Prime Minister Sharif echoed these sentiments, describing Ashura as a day filled with profound lessons of faith, patience, perseverance, and selflessness in Islamic history.

Sharif further elaborated on the example set by Hazrat Imam Hussain Razi Allah ho Ta’ala Anho, highlighting his conduct as a testament to the importance of sacrificing one’s life for the defense of truth, justice, and human dignity, rather than succumbing to oppression, injustice, and falsehood. The leaders’ messages aim to inspire the nation to reflect on these values and work towards a more harmonious society.
