Islamabad, Caretaker Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Jalil Abbas Jilani, has unequivocally condemned a recent attack by Iran within Pakistani territory, labeling it a severe violation of national sovereignty and international law.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, during a phone conversation with his Iranian counterpart, Hossein Amir Abdollahian, Jilani firmly stated that the Iranian attack not only breached Pakistan’s sovereignty but also contravened the principles of international law and the spirit of bilateral relations between the two countries. The incident, he noted, has inflicted significant damage on the diplomatic ties between Pakistan and Iran.
Jilani emphasized Pakistan’s right to respond to this provocative act, underscoring the seriousness with which Pakistan views this incursion. He also stressed the importance of a collective and coordinated approach to combating terrorism, a common threat in the region. The Foreign Minister warned that unilateral actions like this could gravely undermine regional peace and stability, urging no country in the region to engage in such perilous behavior.
The conversation comes as Jilani leads the Pakistani delegation to the Ministerial Meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement in Kampala, Uganda, highlighting the incident’s implications on the international diplomatic stage.
This incident marks a tense moment in Pakistan-Iran relations and underscores the importance of adherence to international norms and mutual respect among neighboring countries.
