USAID Mission Director Reaffirms Support for Pakistan in Meeting with Minister for Economic Affairs


Islamabad, Ms. Veeraya Kate Somvongsiri, the Mission Director for the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in Pakistan, met with Pakistan’s Minister for Economic Affairs, Mr. Ahad Khan Cheema, today to discuss ongoing development projects and reinforce the partnership between the two nations.



According to Press Information Department, the meeting highlighted the significant support provided by the US in various sectors including energy, education, health, and narcotics control, especially in the wake of the 2022 floods. The Minister for Economic Affairs expressed appreciation for the US’s continued economic assistance and discussed the Development Objective Assistance Agreement, which was recently renewed after thirteen years.



Ms. Somvongsiri reaffirmed USAID’s commitment to supporting Pakistan’s socio-economic development through targeted programs aimed at fostering climate-resilient growth and enhancing democratic governance among other priority areas.
