Phnom Penh: In preparation for the Second Inter-Parliamentary Speakers’ Conference (ISC), scheduled for August 2026, Ambassador Ms. Misbah Khar held significant consultations with the Senate of Cambodia in Phnom Penh. The discussions focused on enhancing the upcoming event, drawing from the success of the inaugural conference held in Islamabad.
According to Senate of Pakistan, Ms. Khar emphasized the importance of peace in the global landscape, highlighting Pakistan’s efforts in promoting dialogue amid recent US-Iran tensions. She underscored the role of parliamentary diplomacy during global crises and the importance of forums like the ISC in fostering international cooperation.
The consultations aimed at setting the roadmap for the forthcoming conference, with both Ms. Khar and Cambodian Senate leaders agreeing on key priorities. These efforts intend to build on the achievements of the Islamabad Conference to ensure the Cambodia event is impactful.
The Senate of Cambodia described the discussions as productive, expressing its commitment to collaborating with the ISC Secretariat for a successful conference. Representing Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, Ms. Khar conveyed gratitude to the Cambodian Senate and all delegates involved.
The preparatory meeting saw the participation of senior Cambodian officials and representatives from various countries and organizations, including the ISC delegation and members from UPF Asia Pacific, Pakistan, Nepal, the Republic of Korea, and Japan.
