Islamabad: The Senate Standing Committee on Rules of Procedure and Privileges convened at the Parliament House, chaired by Senator Syed Waqar Mehdi, to examine several privilege motions. The committee directed the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to resolve a property case in Sector I-10, Islamabad, within two weeks, amid concerns over a missing file and lack of progress on a court decision.
According to Senate of Pakistan, the meeting also addressed issues of alleged misbehavior by Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) staff and the conduct of the Deputy Commissioner Chakwal towards members of Parliament. The committee expressed dissatisfaction with the absence of senior CDA officials and emphasized the need for timely execution of judicial orders. CDA officials assured that the matter would be reviewed by the CDA Board in its upcoming meeting.
The committee deferred discussions on a privilege motion against the Federal Minister for Communications and examined a motion regarding alleged misconduct by PIA staff, urging authorities to consult with the mover for resolution. The Deputy Commissioner Chakwal offered an apology for her conduct, which was accepted, leading to the disposal of that motion. The meeting concluded with concerns about Parliament Lodges’ maintenance, directing the CDA to address these issues urgently.
