Bishkek: Senator Bushra Anjum Butt led the Pakistani delegation at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Women’s Forum, where discussions focused on enhancing socio-economic cooperation and women’s empowerment among member states. Delegations from other SCO member states participated in the forum, engaging in detailed deliberations on expanding economic opportunities for women, increasing their representation in public institutions, and strengthening their role in global decision-making processes.
According to Senate of Pakistan, Senator Butt met with the Vice President for Women and Family Affairs of Iran and the accompanying Iranian delegation on the sidelines of the forum. The Iranian delegation expressed gratitude to Pakistan for its mediating role during the Iran-United States conflict and its efforts to promote regional peace and stability. Senator Butt reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to regional cooperation and mutual understanding.
Senator Butt also met with former President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Roza Otunbayeva, to discuss women’s leadership and regional cooperation. The forum concluded with an announcement that Pakistan will host the next SCO Women’s Forum in September. Additionally, Senator Butt attended a cultural show and exhibitions, expressing appreciation for Kyrgyzstan’s cultural heritage.
