Karachi: A United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) delegation visited Karachi to express appreciation for Pakistan Customs’ facilitation of humanitarian cargo destined for Afghanistan. The delegation, led by Mustafa Deniz, Deputy Representative (Operations), and Tanveer Asim, Associate Supply & Logistics, met with Irfan Javed, Director General of the Directorate General of Transit Trade.

According to Press Information Department, the delegation acknowledged the effective coordination by Pakistan Customs, which ensured the timely and efficient movement of 355 containers of UNICEF humanitarian cargo through Pakistan. This transit was executed in accordance with directives from the Ministry of Commerce and the Federal Board of Revenue, allowing passage through the Torkham Border Crossing Point.

UNICEF representatives expressed gratitude to key officials, including Rashid Munir Siddiqui, Zahra Haider, Ghulam Haider Mahesar, Athar Naveed, and Shafaat Ali Mirza, for their roles in facilitating the consignments. The coordinated efforts were crucial for the timely delivery of essential humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan.

The Directorate General of Transit Trade reiterated its commitment to efficient facilitation of humanitarian and international transit cargo, adhering to governmental regulations and directives.
