Jammu, A devastating bus accident in the Chungi Morh area of Akhnoor, Jammu, resulted in the death of 21 passengers and injuries to 69 others on Thursday. The bus, carrying pilgrims, plummeted into a deep gorge in what marks one of the more severe traffic incidents in the region recently.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the bus was traveling from Hathras, Uttar Pradesh, to the Shiv Khori area in Reasi district when the tragedy struck. It reportedly fell approximately 200 meters into the gorge, prompting a swift response from emergency services who initiated a major rescue operation.
Block Medical Officer of Akhnoor, Muhammad Saleem Khan, reported that 21 victims were pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital, while approximately 69 others sustained injuries. He noted that the critically injured were transferred to Government Medical College in Jammu for specialized care.
