Tarar Condemns Afghan Taliban’s Targeting of Civilians in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Islamabad: Information Minister Attaullah Tarar has denounced the Afghan Taliban for targeting civilians in the border districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, calling their actions a reflection of disregard for human life. The condemnation follows reports of civilian casualties in the region due to Taliban attacks.

According to Radio Pakistan, Tarar criticized the Afghan Taliban’s actions in a statement on social media, describing the attacks on civilian areas as cowardly and a demonstration of the regime’s low moral character. He cited a report from the Deputy Commissioner of Bajaur, which detailed that nine civilians, including six children and women, were killed, and twelve others were injured in the district due to the Taliban’s unprovoked targeting.

The Information Minister also mentioned an incident where three civilians were injured while playing cricket, attributing the attack to the use of a quadcopter by Taliban-aligned forces. Tarar dismissed claims from the Afghan Taliban that Pakistan deliberately targets civilians, asserting that Pakistan’s military operations focus on terrorist infrastructure and are conducted with transparency and care to avoid civilian harm.

Tarar emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to fighting against terrorist groups and their backers, stating that the country’s actions are grounded in principles and respect for human life. He condemned the Taliban and their alleged Indian-backed supporters, characterizing their efforts as driven by negative motives.
