Islamabad: Swift police action has resulted in the arrest of the main suspect accused in a double murder case in Islamabad, following a spate of violence against women in the capital. According to Islamabad Capital Police, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, along with other senior police officials, announced the arrest at a press conference held at the Central Police Office in Islamabad.
IGP Rizvi detailed that the murders, which took place within the jurisdiction of Police Station Aabpara, involved a suspect, Bilal Hussain, who allegedly killed his former wife, Farhana Younas, and another woman, Nigah Yaseen, over a domestic dispute. The police, acting promptly, registered a case and formed special investigative teams that led to the suspect’s arrest within 48 hours.
Under the direction of DIG Islamabad Muhammad Jawad Tariq, seven special CIA teams were mobilized to conduct operations across Islamabad, Punjab, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The teams utilized extensive surveillance and investigative techniques, including analyzing call detail records, reviewing footage from Safe City cameras, and interrogating several individuals.
The cooperation between Islamabad Police and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police was highlighted, with IGP Rizvi expressing gratitude for the assistance that led to the arrest of Bilal Hussain, who was found in possession of the murder weapon. Investigations continue against other suspects involved in the case.
IGP Rizvi emphasized the commitment of Islamabad Police to rapid and effective crime-solving, citing past successes in solving major cases within short timeframes. The police’s use of modern technology and collaborative efforts with other law enforcement agencies have been crucial in these endeavors.
In recognition of the efforts made by the police teams, IGP Islamabad announced a cash reward of PKR 2.5 million and Class One certificates for outstanding performance.
