ISLAMABAD: Speaker Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Babar Saleem Swati met with Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani at the latter’s residence in Ministers’ Enclave, Islamabad, to deliberate on the national political landscape, regional developments, and mutual interests.

According to Senate of Pakistan, during their meeting, Chairman Gilani highlighted the Senate’s crucial role as a representative forum for federating units and as a fundamental component of Pakistan’s federal parliamentary system. He emphasized that the Senate serves as an effective platform for protecting provincial interests and fostering coordination among federating units.

Chairman Gilani stressed the importance of enhancing coordination between Parliament and provincial assemblies to tackle issues through dialogue and consensus. He stated that political stability, democratic continuity, and adherence to constitutional principles are vital for reinforcing the federation and ensuring equitable development nationwide.

Both leaders reiterated the significance of strengthening parliamentary institutions and maintaining close coordination between federal and provincial legislatures to serve the national interest.
