Karachi, The Sindh Cabinet, under the leadership of Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, has approved a series of significant measures, including the development of an Inclusive City for Persons with Disabilities, the implementation of the S-BOSS business registry, and enhanced registration incentives for electric vehicles. The decisions were made during a cabinet meeting held at CM House, which was attended by various provincial ministers and officials.
According to Chief Minister Sindh, the cabinet has allocated 100 acres of land for the Inclusive City between Shaheed-e-Milat Expressway and Malir Expressway. This initiative aims to provide comprehensive facilities for Persons with Disabilities, including education, rehabilitation, and vocational training under a unified complex. The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of making persons with disabilities more productive and integrated within the community.
The meeting also led to the approval of the Sindh Business One-stop-one-shop (S-BOSS), a consolidated online business registry intended to simplify the process for obtaining business approvals, which will now cover 140 different permissions across 16 integrated government departments. This system is designed to improve the ease of doing business in the province and promote economic activities.
Additionally, the cabinet has decided to push forward with environmental initiatives by importing 50 electric buses and implementing a ‘Rent to Own’ financial model, which includes operation, maintenance, and the creation of necessary infrastructure. This effort aligns with the provincial government’s strategy to promote cleaner energy sources and reduce environmental impact.
The Sindh Chief Minister also reiterated the commitment to not privatize the Pakistan Steel Mills, opting instead to potentially revive or replace the existing plant. This stance is intended to preserve a key industrial asset and stimulate economic growth and employment.
Furthermore, a new council for home-based workers was approved to ensure their registration and legal support, reflecting the government’s dedication to improving labor conditions and supporting informal sector workers.
