Islamabad: Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar, Federal Minister for Human Rights, emphasized the commitment of the Government of Pakistan to safeguard the rights and dignity of older citizens while marking the International Day of Older Persons on October 1, 2026. He highlighted the importance of respecting and integrating senior citizens, recognizing their contributions to families and society.
According to Press Information Department, Senator Tarar noted that the Islamabad Capital Territory Senior Citizens Act of 2021 is a crucial legal framework aimed at ensuring the welfare and security of older persons. He stressed that the responsibility for the welfare of senior citizens extends beyond legislative measures, calling for a collaborative effort among families, communities, government entities, and civil society to prioritize the dignity and well-being of older individuals.
