SECP-SBP Coordination Committee Convenes 30th Meeting to Discuss Financial Sector Developments


Karachi, The 30th meeting of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) and the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) Coordination Committee was held on November 23, 2023, at the SBP head office in Karachi. The meeting, chaired by SECP Chairman Mr. Akif Saeed and SBP Governor Mr. Jameel Ahmad, aimed to discuss new developments in the financial sector, particularly digital financial services, data sharing, financial inclusion, climate-related financial disclosures, coordination for bancassurance business, and capital market development in Pakistan.



According to Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan, these high-level meetings between the two regulators provide a platform for collaboration on matters impacting the overall stability and smooth functioning of the financial sector. The meeting emphasized the importance of regular coordination on mutual interests. The recent meeting marked the resumption of these discussions after a four-year hiatus. Mr. Akif Saeed, while thanking the Governor SBP for reinitiating this critical initiative, stressed the significance of regular contact between officials of the two institutions at all levels.
