Lahore, The Punjab Police’s commitment to recognizing and advancing its personnel’s skills and contributions continues in the new year, with 42 communication officers of the Safe City Authority receiving promotions. This move is part of an ongoing effort to enhance the capabilities and morale of the police force in Punjab.
According to Punjab Police, the promotions were directed by Inspector General of Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar. A total of 39 officers have been promoted to the rank of Senior Communication Officers, and three to Police Technical Officers, following the merit and regulations. This follows a recent series of promotions where 31 officers were elevated as Senior Communication Officers and 41 as Police Technical Officers.
A ceremony at the Central Police Office marked the occasion, where IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar personally pinned three-star badges on the newly promoted senior communication and technical officers. The event was attended by Additional IG Logistics Muhammad Kamran Khan, MD Safe City Authority Ahsan Younas, Chief Operating Officer Safe City Mustansar Firoze, among others. The IG Punjab also met with the promoted officers and their families, congratulating them on their achievements.
In his address, Dr. Anwar highlighted significant improvements for the promoted officers, including a substantial salary increase of 50 thousand per month. He emphasized the importance of courteous treatment of citizens, especially in handling calls on the emergency number 15, and stated that any bad behavior towards citizens is unacceptable.
Further, Dr. Anwar announced that the Safe City project is expanding to 18 additional cities, with the promoted officers expected to take on roles as data managers. He outlined a clear career structure for Police Communication Officers, indicating opportunities for advancement up to the ranks of Assistant Director, Deputy Director, and Director.
Underlining the importance of keeping pace with technological advancements, IG Punjab encouraged the officers to continuously update their skills and knowledge in technology. He urged them never to become stagnant in their roles but to seek continual improvement through learning and skill enhancement.
