Islamabad, The Right to Public Services Commission in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa conducted hearings on six public complaints on Thursday, addressing various issues ranging from property disputes to failure in service delivery. The three-member bench focused on ensuring citizens’ rights to timely and corruption-free public services.
According to Directorate General Information and PRs – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, one of the cases involved a citizen, Hasan Nasir, who complained about Patwari Ahmed Khel, Inamullah, for refusing to hand over property and demanding a bribe. The Commission ordered Tehsildar and Circle Patwari to appear with all records. Another case was brought by Jameel Afridi, a 72-year-old senior citizen, against the WSSP for billing despite disconnection of water service. The Commission directed that show cause notices be issued to negligent officials and ordered reimbursement of bills since 2020.
Sardar Ali from Abbottabad filed a petition regarding the non-registration of an FIR for car theft. The Commission, after reviewing the evidence, including CCTV footage, instructed the DPO to file an FIR within fourteen days. An Afghan citizen, Hanifullah, and Yasir Khan reported being tortured by SHO Thana Khal from Lower Dir, leading to the summoning of the concerned DSP and SHO for the next hearing.
Muhammad Wajid from Chitral sought assistance in a land record dispute. The Commission ordered the provision of all current records to the citizen. Ayaz Ali from Swabi complained about the non-registration of an FIR against a hospital security officer. The Commission directed DPO Mardan to register the FIR within a month.
The Commission reaffirmed that timely access to services is a fundamental right of every citizen and that failure by government officials to provide notified services is punishable under law. The Commission’s proactive approach signifies its commitment to ensuring basic services for citizens and upholding their legal rights.
