Islamabad: Federal Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi, under the guidance of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, has unveiled the schedule for five special Eid trains to facilitate travel during the Eid-ul-Fitr holidays. The initiative is designed to ensure safe and convenient journeys for passengers traveling across Pakistan.
Minister Abbasi announced that the first of these special trains will depart from Karachi Cantt Station to Lahore on March 26, featuring 16 coaches and passing through Hyderabad, Rohri, Multan, and Sahiwal. Another train, also leaving on March 26, will travel from Quetta to Peshawar Cantt with 11 coaches, making stops in Multan and Sahiwal.
On March 27, a third train will run from Lahore to Karachi, with a route including Khanewal, Multan, Sahiwal, and Rohri. The same day, a fourth train will leave Karachi City Station for Rawalpindi, comprising 14 coaches and traveling via Faisalabad, Sargodha, and Lalamusa. The final special train will depart on March 28, heading from Karachi Cantt to Lahore through Multan and Faisalabad.
These trains will offer Economy Class, AC Business, and AC Standard Class options, allowing passengers to choose their preferred level of comfort. The Pakistan Railways Headquarters has informed all relevant divisions of the special schedule, and advance bookings are underway.
Minister Abbasi has emphasized the importance of completing all necessary preparations for these trains to operate smoothly. Divisional Superintendents are required to be present at stations during departures to oversee arrangements, with strict instructions against negligence.
In addition to the Eid schedule, Abbasi announced a forthcoming ‘Adoption Policy’ aimed at upgrading travel facilities on the Peshawar to Karachi route. This policy intends to enhance both passenger coaches and station infrastructure.
Minister Abbasi highlighted that these efforts align with the Prime Minister’s vision for improved public service, and Pakistan Railways remains committed to providing reliable travel options during national holidays.
