Quetta, The Balochistan government has announced a temporary ban on fishing across all territorial waters of the province to preserve fish populations during their critical breeding season. This seasonal prohibition, effective from June 1, 2024, to July 31, 2024, encompasses all forms of fishing in canals, seas, dams, ponds, and rivers.
According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, the Secretary of Fisheries and Coastal Development enforced the ban under Section 6 of the Balochistan Sea and Fisheries Ordinance 1971. The Department of Fisheries and Coastal Development oversees the implementation of the ban, emphasizing the importance of conservation practices to support the long-term health and viability of the region’s fish populations.
