Lahore, Following the directives of Chief Minister Punjab Syed Mohsin Naqvi and under the supervision of IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar, Punjab Police is conducting a vigorous campaign against underage and unlicensed drivers across the province, resulting in thousands of challans and FIRs.
According to the Punjab Police, the campaign has led to the issuance of 10,724 challans and the registration of 1,781 FIRs against individuals violating traffic laws, particularly underage and unlicensed drivers. In Lahore alone, over 3,000 challans and 726 cases have been filed, including 379 FIRs against underage drivers and 347 against unlicensed drivers.
The campaign extends beyond Lahore, with significant enforcement actions in various regions. In Gujranwala, 912 challans and 38 cases were registered; Rawalpindi saw 1,510 challans and 112 cases; Faisalabad had 1,775 challans and 89 cases; and in Multan, 437 challans and 231 cases were filed against underage and unlicensed drivers.
IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar has directed Regional Police Officers (RPOs), District Police Officers (DPOs), and District Traffic Police Officers to intensify the crackdown. He emphasized that underage and unlicensed drivers, as well as those involved in one-wheeling and racing, pose a significant risk to public safety and should face stringent actions. Dr. Anwar has also appealed to parents not to allow underage children to drive and instructed supervisory officers to provide daily progress reports on the crackdown to the Central Police Office.
This initiative by the Punjab Police aims to enhance road safety and discipline, ensuring safer driving conditions across the province.
