Lahore, The Punjab Police, under the directives of Inspector General Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar, has implemented comprehensive security measures for churches across the province, particularly in Lahore, to ensure the safety of citizens during Sunday worship programs.
According to Punjab Police, the police teams were on high alert in all districts, diligently performing their duties to ensure foolproof security for the worship and prayer programs.
IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar issued specific instructions to the Regional Police Officers (RPOs) and District Police Officers (DPOs) to bolster the security of churches. He emphasized the need for supervisory officers to meticulously check the security arrangements at churches and other important places. The directive included the deployment of additional police personnel and snipers at sensitive churches, while specialized teams like the Dolphin Squad, PRU, and Elite forces were tasked with conducting effective patrolling around these locations.
Anwar highlighted the importance of police officers and officials on security duty to remain highly vigilant and closely monitor any suspicious elements. He also stressed the continuation of search and sweep operations around churches, Christian communities, and sensitive areas. In addition, he advocated for the promotion of inter-faith harmony through collaboration with scholars, Christian community leaders, and members of peace committees.
Furthermore, Dr. Usman Anwar pointed out that the Punjab Police has established Meesaq centers to address the concerns of minorities, including the Christian community, on a priority basis. These centers are dedicated to providing prompt and effective relief to Christian citizens.
