Lahore: Punjab Police has finalized security arrangements for the upcoming 12th Rabi-ul-Awwal celebrations, deploying over 55,000 officers and personnel across the province to ensure the safety of Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) gatherings and processions. The measures include heightened surveillance and monitoring to prevent any disruptions during the events.

According to Punjab Police, the security plan encompasses 1,436 gatherings and 2,479 processions throughout Punjab, with a concentrated effort in Lahore where over 8,000 officers, personnel, and volunteers will secure 216 processions and 111 gatherings. Inspector General of Police Punjab, Abdul Kareem, emphasized the importance of maintaining high alert status and monitoring potential threats during the celebrations.

The police spokesperson detailed that strict adherence to security protocols and the deployment of additional personnel at sensitive locations are part of the strategy. The use of Safe City cameras for surveillance and involvement of peace committees, religious scholars, and community leaders in security planning have been prioritized.

IG Punjab has instructed regional and district police officers to oversee the security arrangements personally. The comprehensive plan includes contributions from various police units, including the Traffic Police, Elite, Special Branch, and the Counter Terrorism Department, utilizing both conventional and modern resources to maintain peace and order during the festivities.
