Punjab Police Arrests Another Dangerous Proclaimed Offender from UAE

Lahore, 11 Oct 2023:The Punjab Police, acting on the directives of the Inspector General of Police Punjab, has arrested another dangerous proclaimed offender (PO) from the United Arab Emirates. This latest apprehension brings the total number of such offenders arrested from abroad this year to 123.

The spokesman for Punjab Police confirmed that the PO, Adil Mahmood, who was sought by the Gujarat Police in connection with a murder case, was detained in Dubai. Mahmood had reportedly fled to the UAE following the murder incident last year. In response, Punjab Police pursued the issuance of red notices through Interpol, and after consistent efforts, managed to arrest the accused. Following his capture, Mahmood was brought back to Pakistan, landing at Sialkot airport, and was subsequently handed over to Gujarat police for further proceedings.

The Inspector General of Punjab Police, in his remarks, commended the team responsible for the arrest of the A-category dangerous proclaimed offender. He emphasized the urgency of completing the legal process swiftly to ensure justice is served. Furthermore, the Inspector General stressed the importance of intensifying operations against serious offenders implicated in crimes such as murder, robbery, and kidnapping. He instructed Regional Police Officers (RPOs) and District Police Officers (DPOs) to be actively involved in the monitoring of these operations. Dr. Usman Anwar, in line with the directive, highlighted the necessity for regular information exchange with agencies like the FIA, Interpol, and other government departments to facilitate the arrest and prosecution of more proclaimed offenders.
