Lahore: Sohail Shaukat Butt, the Punjab Provincial Minister for Social Welfare and Bait-ul-Maal, embarked on a visit to Rawalpindi where he initiated a plantation campaign at the Divisional Complex Social Welfare and inspected the registration process for the Himat Card, a new initiative for persons with disabilities.
According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab announcement issued on 07 August 2024, Minister Butt’s visit to the Divisional Complex included a detailed briefing from Divisional Director Social Welfare Rana Shahid on the ongoing efforts to register disabled individuals for work under the Himat Card program. The program aims to integrate persons with disabilities into the workforce and provide them with a quarterly stipend of Rs 10,500.
During his visit to the registration points at Sir Syed Chowk, Minister Butt reviewed the registration process and highlighted the Punjab government’s commitment, under Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, to enhancing the welfare of disabled persons. He emphasized the importance of accurate data entry and the involvement of community leaders in the campaign.
Minister Butt reiterated that eligibility for the Himat Card requires a PMT score issued by BISP and a disability certificate for those unable to work. He commended the full participation of disabled individuals in the registration process and outlined the helpline and service provisions available for assistance.
The event was also attended by members of the Provincial Assembly of Punjab and other officials, marking a significant step towards improving the support system for disabled individuals in the province.
