Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif today emphasized the importance of Pakistan’s relationship with the United Kingdom during a meeting with a British delegation led by Sir Michael Barber in Islamabad. The Prime Minister highlighted the historic and strengthening ties between the two nations and expressed his commitment to deepening these connections through increased people-to-people contact and mutual cooperation in various sectors.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Prime Minister Sharif detailed the government’s initiatives for economic revitalization, including the privatization of state-owned enterprises and the digital transformation of the Federal Board of Revenue. He outlined policies aimed at reducing government spending by downsizing and eliminating ineffective institutions, enhancing exports, and expanding the tax base. The Prime Minister also noted Pakistan’s potential in agricultural and IT exports.

Sir Michael Barber lauded Pakistan’s economic recovery strategies and reassured continued UK support across all sectors, affirming that progress in Pakistan is seen as beneficial to the UK as well.
