Islamabad, 11 Oct 2023:In a determined move to harness religious platforms for national educational advancements, President Dr. Arif Alvi has called for optimizing the role of mosques to expedite the enhancement of Pakistan’s literacy rate, as stated in a press release by MOIB. Chairing a meeting concerning the role of “Minbar-o-Mehraab” in societal progress in Islamabad today, President Alvi identified the education of twenty-seven million children as a substantial challenge, pinpointing that the two hundred fifty thousand mosques across the country can stand as potent allies in this extensive educational endeavour.
Moreover, the President entreated religious scholars to employ a dynamic role in extirpating social evils, such as intolerance, the propagation of fake news, and backbiting. He also highlighted that the ulema can promulgate awareness regarding pandemics, food scarcity, and stunted mental and physical growth amongst the populace. The meeting, which also saw participation from Federal Religious Minister Aneeq Ahmed and religious provincial ministers from Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, underscored a unified approach towards intertwining religious practice and societal education, aiming to uplift and enlighten the nation through collective, coordinated endeavours.
