MUZAFFARABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has called for India to resolve the Kashmir dispute according to United Nations resolutions, emphasizing Pakistan’s unwavering support for Kashmiris in their pursuit of self-determination. Speaking at the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, the Prime Minister reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to political, diplomatic, and moral backing for the Kashmiri cause.
According to a statement by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Prime Minister Sharif paid tribute to the sacrifices made by Kashmir martyrs and the Hurriyat leadership. He recalled Quaid-e-Azam’s declaration of Kashmir as the jugular vein of Pakistan, insisting that Pakistan will not remain passive in the face of continued Indian actions in the region.
During his address, Sharif condemned India’s implementation of restrictive laws, extrajudicial killings, and demographic changes in the Indian-administered regions of Jammu and Kashmir. He underscored that Pakistan’s nuclear status should not be mistaken for weakness, underscoring the country’s quest for peace.
The Prime Minister urged India to pursue an amicable resolution to the Kashmir issue in accordance with UN mandates and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people. He called on the international community and peace-loving nations to pressure India into allowing Kashmiris the right to decide their future.
Sharif also promised to allocate resources for the rapid development of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, improving infrastructure, healthcare, and educational facilities. He announced plans to open Danish Schools across various districts in AJK, aiming to enhance educational opportunities in the region.
