Islamabad, 13 Oct 2023: Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar declared a steadfast commitment to enhancing national security by leveraging all available resources to maintain law and order throughout the country, according to a press release by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MOIB). Chairing a meeting on Khyber Pakhtunkhwa issues in Peshawar on Friday, Kakar conveyed an uncompromising stance against any entity that challenges the state’s writ by bearing arms and emphasized fortifying the capabilities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police and the Counter Terrorism Department.
Underpinning the government’s resolve, Kakar appreciated the endeavours of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa administration and police in counteracting terrorism incidents and highlighted the necessity of equipping the police with modern tools to effectively confront terrorist threats. He affirmed that the Federal government is poised to provide comprehensive facilitation and resources to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government, acknowledging the unmatched sacrifices rendered by the armed forces and police in the ongoing battle against terrorism, and asserting that the nation firmly stands with its security forces.
In the scope of broader governance and administrative agendas, Kakar reassured the unwavering determination of the federal and provincial governments to implement the National Action Plan. Commitments were made to resolve financial and other challenges faced by the province and to devise a strategy regarding the matters of the merged districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The Prime Minister stressed the interim government’s firm position against smuggling and corruption, noting that timely administrative actions have successfully reduced the value of the dollar. Praises were extended to the armed forces for their crucial role in curbing smuggling and hoarding.
Addressing the ongoing drive to repatriate illegal foreign nationals from Pakistan, Kakar specified that only individuals residing in the country illegally are being deported. He further underscored that legally residing foreigners should encounter no difficulties, ensuring a balanced and lawful approach to the initiative.
