Pakistan’s Prime Minister Seeks Stronger Ties with US

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has articulated Pakistan’s intent to collaborate with President Trump and his administration to fortify bilateral relations with the United States. This affirmation came during discussions with a US delegation led by Eric Meyer, the senior bureau official and acting assistant secretary.

The Prime Minister welcomed US involvement in Pakistan’s mineral forum, highlighting the extensive opportunities in the country’s mineral sector. He encouraged American companies to consider investments in this key area.

Sharif emphasized the broader significance of Pakistan-US relations, not only within the bilateral framework but also in terms of regional peace and security. He expressed a desire for enhanced cooperation in mutual interest areas, including trade, investment, and counterterrorism efforts.

Acting Assistant Secretary Meyer congratulated Pakistan on the successful hosting of the Pakistan Mineral Investment Forum. He recognized the potential within Pakistan’s mineral sector and noted the interest of US companies in investing. Meyer also reiterated the US’s willingness to collaborate with Pakistan on shared interests.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Division Ahad Khan Cheema, Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi, and other senior government officials.
