KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has placed district administrations across Sindh on high alert in anticipation of a strong monsoon system approaching the province. The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued an advisory for 23 districts, warning of potential heavy rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds expected to last until July 25. Emergency equipment has been deployed in Karachi, Jamshoro, and Sukkur to prepare for possible weather-related emergencies.

According to Chief Minister Sindh, the PDMA’s weather advisory, based on forecasts from the Pakistan Meteorological Department, indicates that strong monsoon currents are affecting the region. The advisory warns of widespread rain and thunderstorms, with some areas experiencing isolated heavy downpours. These conditions are expected to impact several districts in Sindh from July 23 to July 25.

The chief minister has instructed relevant authorities, including Deputy Commissioners and municipal bodies, to remain vigilant and ensure that emergency response teams are prepared. Efforts are being made to maintain drainage systems and ensure the availability of rescue equipment to protect lives and property during the forecasted weather conditions.

The weather advisory specifies that Tharparkar, Umerkot, Mirpurkhas, and other districts may experience dust thunderstorms and moderate to heavy rain. Upper Sindh regions, including Ghotki and Sukkur, are also expected to see light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms. Meanwhile, Karachi is forecasted to have warm and humid conditions with chances of drizzle and light rain.

In line with the chief minister’s directives, PDMA Sindh has bolstered emergency preparedness efforts, deploying machinery and manpower to key locations. Coordination with municipal bodies, health departments, and rescue services is being emphasized to address any emergencies swiftly.

The advisory also highlights potential impacts, warning of possible damage to infrastructure and advising farmers to plan agricultural activities accordingly. Chief Minister Shah has stressed the importance of continuous monitoring and proactive measures to safeguard human life, livestock, and public infrastructure during this period.
