Pakistan’s Chief Election Commissioner Observes Parliamentary Elections in Uzbekistan

Islamabad: Mr. Sikandar Sultan Raja, the Chief Election Commissioner of Pakistan, is currently in Uzbekistan serving as a special observer for the parliamentary elections. His activities include meetings with Uzbek electoral officials and visits to polling stations in Tashkent, emphasizing the exchange of electoral knowledge and the strengthening of cooperative ties between the two nations.

According to Election Commission of Pakistan, Mr. Raja met with Mr. Zainuddin Nizamkhojaev Makhmatovich, Chairman of the Central Election Commission of Uzbekistan. Their discussions focused on the mutual exchange of electoral experiences and agreed upon enhancing bilateral cooperation further. Additionally, Mr. Raja toured several polling stations in Tashkent, observing the voting process and the facilities provided for voters.

During his visit, Mr. Raja also stopped at the Tashkent University of Journalism and Mass Communications, where he reviewed the institution’s educational facilities and media labs. His visit underscored the importance of educational exchanges in fostering broader relations between Pakistan and Uzbekistan.

The Chief Election Commissioner’s visit also included participation in a briefing yesterday, hosted by the Uzbekistan Election Commission. The event was attended by chairpersons from election commissions worldwide, providing insights into Uzbekistan’s electoral system and the legal and logistical frameworks supporting the current elections.
