Dubai: Over 1,000 students from 48 countries convened at the Harvard Model United Nations (HMUN) Dubai 2025, held from January 11 to 13 at Le Meridien Hotel and Conference Center. Among them were 87 delegates from Pakistan, representing several educational institutions, who notably excelled in the conference’s debates and won prestigious awards.
According to a statement by Press Information Department, the event, organized by Harvard University’s International Relations Council in collaboration with WorldView Education, saw participation from the C.A.S. School Karachi, the Learning Alliance Lahore, Cadet College Hassan Abdal, Lahore Grammar School, and Roots International. Pakistani students were recognized with awards in the conference’s largest debate committees and secured the Best Small Delegation Award.
The conference received support from Pakistan’s diplomatic officials in the UAE. Ambassador Faisal Niaz Tirmizi and Consul General Hussain Muhammad encouraged the Pakistani teams, highlighting the importance of such international engagements. Ambassador Tirmizi addressed the delegates, stressing the significance of soft diplomacy and education in shaping the nation’s future and urging students to drive positive change.
The Harvard IRC team honored Ambassador Tirmizi with a token of recognition for his support. Meanwhile, Umer Sharfuddin led the C.A.S. School delegation in a visit to the Pakistan Consulate in Dubai, where they met with Consul General Muhammad. The Consul General briefed the students on the consulate’s functions and the importance of such platforms in empowering Pakistani youth globally.
