Dhaka: Pakistan and Bangladesh have formalized a new trade partnership with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at facilitating rice exports from Pakistan to Bangladesh. The agreement was signed by Syed Rafeo Bashir Shah, Chairman of the Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP), and Mr. Md. Abdul Khaleque, Director General of the Directorate General of Food, Bangladesh, during a ceremony in Dhaka.

According to a statement by Press Information Department, the ceremony was attended by several key figures, including Syed Ahmed Maroof, the High Commissioner for Pakistan, Mr. Shakeel Ahmed Mangnejo, Special Secretary of Pakistan’s Ministry of Commerce, and Mr. Md. Masudul Hasan, Secretary of Bangladesh’s Ministry of Food. The officials highlighted the potential of this MoU to enhance trade and economic relations between the two countries.

Following the signing, Syed Ahmed Maroof met with the Honorable Adviser for Food, Mr. Ali Imam Majumder, to discuss bilateral trade ties. In a gesture of goodwill, the High Commissioner presented the Adviser with a gift of rice from the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, signaling a commitment to fostering stronger economic connections.
