Chicago: The Ambassador of Pakistan to the United States, Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, met with Jim Sutter, CEO of the U.S. Soybean Export Council, at the U.S. Soy Connext Conference in Chicago, where both parties expressed optimism about the strengthening economic ties between the two nations.

According to Press Information Department, Ambassador Sheikh expressed satisfaction with the growing momentum in Pakistan-U.S. economic cooperation, particularly in trade and investment. He emphasized the critical role that agricultural trade, specifically soybean imports, plays in fortifying the bilateral economic relationship. The Ambassador noted that Pakistan has quickly become a significant market for U.S. soybeans, with annual imports surpassing one million metric tons, reflecting the expanding domestic demand and potential for fruitful commercial partnerships.

Ambassador Sheikh highlighted the potential for deepening cooperation across the soybean value chain, including enhanced trade, stronger business linkages, and collaboration in technical and knowledge-sharing initiatives. Meanwhile, Mr. Sutter reiterated the U.S. Soybean Export Council’s commitment to its longstanding partnership with Pakistan, emphasizing ongoing efforts in technical assistance, capacity building, and industry training to support Pakistan’s agriculture sectors.

Both parties agreed to continue their engagement and explore opportunities to expand cooperation, identifying the soybean sector as a key component of the broader economic partnership between Pakistan and the United States.
