Islamabad: At the United Nations, Pakistan has emphasized the need to alleviate the plight of women and girls in conflict zones, particularly in Indian illegally Occupied Kashmir and Palestine. The call was made during a debate on Women, Peace, and Security at the UN Security Council.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Munir Akram, stressed the importance of prioritizing the end of suffering for women in areas under foreign occupation. He highlighted the critical role of the Security Council in addressing the challenging conditions faced by women and girls in these regions.
Ambassador Akram noted Pakistan’s proactive efforts in promoting the UN Secretary General’s Declaration of shared commitments, which places Women, Peace, and Security at the forefront of UN peacekeeping priorities. He also pointed out the significant contribution of Pakistani women in peacekeeping missions, serving as doctors, nurses, and police officers in some of the most demanding situations globally.
