Islamabad: The National Assembly has unanimously adopted a resolution expressing profound grief and sorrow over the tragic loss of infant lives in a recent fire at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) in Islamabad. The resolution calls for strict action against those responsible for any negligence or safety lapses.

According to National Assembly of Pakistan, the resolution strongly condemned the incident and underscored the serious concern over the circumstances leading to the loss of lives. The House urged the government to take decisive legal action against those found negligent and to ensure accountability.

The resolution further called for a thorough investigation to determine the facts surrounding the incident. It emphasized the need to fix responsibility for any safety lapses and to take legal action against those responsible. The House also highlighted the importance of enforcing fire safety protocols and emergency preparedness measures in federal government hospitals, particularly in neonatal and pediatric units, to prevent future occurrences.

The National Assembly extended condolences to the bereaved families and expressed its support for them during this difficult time. The resolution was moved by MNA Daniyal Chaudar, Parliamentary Secretary for Information and Broadcasting and Federal Coordinator for the Parliamentary Caucus on Child Rights, during the session.
