Peshawar: Chairman of the Pakistan Ulema Council, Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi, delivered a strong condemnation of the recent terrorist incident in Balochistan, emphasizing that the killing of innocent civilians is a grave crime against humanity with no justification in Islam. He called for a united stance against terrorism, extremism, and sectarianism, urging the state, religious scholars, spiritual leaders, and the entire nation to continue their collective struggle against these threats.
According to the Press Information Department, Ashrafi addressed the Paigham-e-Pakistan Ulema and Mashaikh Seminar at the Peshawar Press Club, highlighting the commitment to transform Pakistan into a hub of peace, stability, unity, and tolerance. He underscored the significance of the Paigham-e-Pakistan Fatwa, which distinguishes between Jihad and Fasaad, declaring terrorism and the killing of innocents as contrary to Islamic teachings.
Ashrafi praised the leadership of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif for their effective response to India and their role in preventing regional conflicts through diplomacy. He noted Pakistan’s efforts in easing tensions within the Muslim Ummah and promoting peace, which helped avert a potential Third World War.
He also addressed the importance of maintaining respect for the Companions of the Holy Prophet, the Ahl al-Bayt, and the Rightly Guided Caliphs, as essential for Muslim unity. Ashrafi emphasized the role of religious scholars and seminaries in promoting peace and moderation, and he urged that the upcoming month of Rabi-ul-Awwal be used to spread the message of peace and humanity.
Concluding his address, Ashrafi offered prayers for the victims of terrorism and reaffirmed the nation’s resolve to combat terrorism and promote peace in Pakistan.
