Islamabad: Pakistan and Russia are poised to unlock significant untapped potential in trade and energy, according to Minister for Power Division Sardar Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari. Speaking at a webinar titled “Pakistan-Russia: Strengthening Trade, Education and Energy Collaboration,” Leghari emphasized the potential for the two nations to strengthen economic ties through improved trade and transport links.
According to Radio Pakistan, the webinar was jointly organized by the University of World Civilizations Moscow and the Institute of Regional Studies. Leghari highlighted the positive momentum in Pakistan-Russia relations over the past two decades, attributing it to mutual trust, respect, and a shared commitment to regional stability. He underscored the potential for bilateral trade to exceed the billion-dollar mark in the coming years, contingent on the enhancement of economic cooperation and transport connectivity.
Leghari also pointed to the revival of historic land routes through Central Asia and the International North-South Transport Corridor as critical pathways for boosting trade between the two countries. The Minister’s remarks underscore the strategic importance of fostering deeper economic and energy ties in the region.
