ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has welcomed more than one million international tourists in 2025, marking a significant increase of 20 percent from previous years. The announcement was made by Pakistan’s Ambassador to Russia, Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, highlighting the country’s growing appeal as a global tourist destination.
According to Radio Pakistan, Ambassador Tirmizi emphasized the progress in the tourism sector, attributing it to various government initiatives, including the Green Pakistan program. These efforts have focused on improving planning and attracting investment to boost tourism. The ambassador also shared Pakistan’s target of attracting up to 50,000 tourists from Russia annually, with the potential to generate one billion dollars in revenue each year.
Ambassador Tirmizi noted that shifting conditions in global markets and instability in the Middle East have opened opportunities for new tourist destinations. Pakistan aims to capitalize on this shift, appealing to countries in Eastern Europe and Russia that are seeking alternative travel options. He further highlighted Pakistan’s strategic location connecting Asia, Europe, and Africa, presenting an opportunity to develop as a transit hub through improved aviation services and regional connectivity.
The ambassador pointed out the strong potential within the Russian tourism market, where there is interest in destinations that are accessible, secure, and cost-effective. Pakistan’s diverse landscape and ongoing improvements in tourism facilities position it well to meet this demand.
