ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Turkiye have formalized an agreement to enhance judicial cooperation, marking a significant advancement in their bilateral relations. The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Yahya Afridi and President of the Turkish Constitutional Court, Kadir Ozkaya, at a ceremony in Islamabad.
According to Radio Pakistan, the Chief Justice of Pakistan emphasized that the MoU goes beyond a mere cooperation document. It signifies a shared commitment to strengthen constitutional governance, uphold the rule of law, ensure judicial independence, and protect fundamental rights. The agreement aims to foster collaboration through exchange of judicial knowledge, promotion of comparative constitutional jurisprudence, and capacity building via joint programs and judicial exchanges.
President of the Turkish Constitutional Court, Kadir Ozkaya, highlighted the deep-rooted relationship between Pakistan and Turkiye, which transcends conventional diplomacy. He expressed confidence that the renewed cooperation would be effective and beneficial, praising the Supreme Court of Pakistan’s commitment to constitutional principles and rule of law.
