Pakistan Seeks Stronger Partnership with Google to Enhance Digital Security

Islamabad: Pakistan is aiming to bolster its collaboration with Google to create a safer digital landscape, as revealed in a meeting between the Minister of State for Interior, Talal Chaudhry, and a high-level delegation from Google led by Senior Director David Wheeler. The talks, held in Islamabad, focused on digital security, countering terrorism through social media, and enhancing mutual cooperation.

According to Radio Pakistan, the discussions emphasized the need for digital platforms to consider Pakistan’s unique geographical and security conditions. Chaudhry highlighted the misuse of social media by terrorists to instill fear and emphasized the necessity for proactive social media monitoring in the country. Google’s commitment to continuous cooperation with the Pakistani government for a secure digital environment was affirmed by Senior Director Wheeler.

The meeting was attended by Google’s representative in Pakistan, Dr. Kyle Gardner, alongside members of the Social Media Protection and Regulation Authority, the Director General of the National Cybercrime Investigation Agency, and officials from the Ministry of Interior.
