New York: Pakistan has reiterated its support for a sovereign and independent State of Palestine, advocating for borders based on the pre-1967 lines with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as the capital. This stance aligns with United Nations resolutions and international law.
According to Radio Pakistan, this commitment was articulated by Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, during a Security Council session addressing the situation in the Occupied Palestinian Territory. Ambassador Ahmad highlighted the ongoing fragility of the region, noting that two years of conflict have taken a severe toll and that the progress made since the ceasefire in October 2025 is under threat.
Ambassador Ahmad emphasized that while the broader regional circumstances demand attention, it is crucial not to lose focus on the issues faced by the West Bank and Gaza.
